I’m excited to teach 5th grade at St. Anthony School this year! This will be my 15th year of teaching, having taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades in the San Diego Unified School District. I completed my Bachelor’s Degree at UCLA and earned a teaching credential and Master’s Degree in Elementary Mathematics Education at San Diego State University.
I’m a transplant from San Diego, California, and have spent the last few years on a food scavenger hunt of O’ahu. Here on a military move, my husband and I are hoping to make Hawai’i our permanent home. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, baking, trolling the craft fairs for locally made goods.

Aloha! I originally hail from Indiana, but after marrying a military man I have managed to add moves to many states and countries and greatly expanded my teaching experiences. I graduated from Indiana University in 2000 with a bachelors of science in elementary education. Over the past 15 years I have had a variety of teaching experiences in different locations including Washington State, London, England, North Carolina, Indiana, California and now here! The youngest grade I’ve taught is fourth and the oldest is middle school science. During that time I also received my masters in curriculum and instruction focusing on STEM education at Purdue University. I am currently living here in Kailua with my husband, Josh, our three children, Andrew (4), George (2) and Cate (2) and our dog Indy. In our free time we enjoy running, hiking, any water activities, traveling and spending time with our family. I am looking forward to a fantastic year here at St. Anthony’s School.

About Communication
Our student planners are an excellent form of communication. Students will fill out planners daily and they should travel to and from school daily. I will also send periodic emails with classroom updates, upcoming events, needs for supplies, volunteers, etc. Plan to see Tuesday Folders every Tuesday with school wide information and our fifth grade "Warrior Wire", containing a week at a glance calendar important upcoming events (test, field trips, uniform changes, etc.) Please feel free to contact us at school through a note in the student planner, by email, or call me at school. We welcome your thoughts and am looking forward to working together to make fifth grade a successful year!

About Classroom BehaviorStudents are expected to follow St. Anthony’s school expectations in the classroom. If expectations are not followed students will receive problem solving guidance and further action will be taken as needed. Positive behavior will be rewarded with terrific tickets to be turned in for periodic drawings, student of the month, and other surprises to be unveiled at a later time.

About Homework
Expect homework Monday through Thursday night. Your student should write homework assignments in his or her planner each day. Homework is typically due the next day unless otherwise noted. Late work will be accepted for partial credit. Partial credit is better than no credit!
In fifth grade part of our homework is nightly independent reading. Every student should be reading at least 20 minutes a night! |
